DURING OUR SERVICES
Just place your check or cash in the offering during any Sunday or Wednesday service.
For your convenience, offering envelopes are available for tithing.
You can place cash or checks (payable to Unity of Portland) in one of these envelopes
and put it in the offering during any Sunday service, or mail it to Unity of Portland and we will apply your gift.
GIVING BY DIRECT DEPOSIT BILL PAY
Bill Pay is an online option on your checking account offered by your bank. Bill Pay allows you to use your computer to make a payment from your account.
You need to set up the church as a Bill Pay payee.
You enter into your computer the amount you wish to give.
The bank then issues a check which is automatically mailed to the church. The church deposits the check just like any other check.
The amount of the check is automatically deducted from your bank account.
The details of Bill Pay vary from bank to bank, but there are two things that are very important:
How you want your gift to be used:
One of the following methods should be used depending upon your bank’s Bill Pay capabilities.
Use the memo line: Enter on the memo line the intended use of your gift.
You can specify for example the Month of Special Giving Offering.
The software of some banks does not permit entries on the memo line.
Use the address line: Append to the church name the intended use of your gift. For example,
if you wish to give to the Month of Special Giving, use Unity of Portland-Unity of Portland as the first line in the address.
This approach should work for all banks. If you do not indicate on the check the intended use, the church will credit your gift to the general fund.

Some individuals like to make special year-end gifts. Because all gifts to Unity of Portland are subject to I.R.S. deadlines,
please remember that all year-end gifts must be received in the church office before midnight on December 31,
or must be postmarked before the end of December to be deducted in the present tax year.
Any gifts received after December 31 and not postmarked in December will be included in the next tax year.
The date written on a check will not determine in which tax year a gift is included.
Only the actual date of receipt by the church or the postmark will establish the correct tax year for the I.R.S.
(Special rules apply to credit cards and electronic fund transfers at year-end.)
